In light of the recent tragedy in Charlottesville, Virginia, you may be feeling scared, anxious, and unsure of the future. You may be thinking, "What do we do in times like these?" or "How can I help?"
Using the teachings of A Course in Miracles, we will learn to reach past our own weaknesses, to rid our lives of the things that aren't fulfilling us, and to remain vigilant for strength and for love in these scary, turbulent times.
Are things looking and feeling like they're really a big mess these days?
We have communities that are feeling scared for their lives, Jews who are wondering when they might find safety again, and what we are looking at is an unraveling of our American values, systems, and democracy.
It's all a big mess.
But—in all honesty—I'd rather see these things rise to the surface, so that they can be dealt with and seen, rather than stay hidden, blocked, and in a state of denial.
We are truly a great American experiment, and this experiment is getting messy right now. How are we going to look at the right to free speech and to bear arms, when hate groups are showing up with automatic assault weapons on the streets of a peaceful, harmonious multiracial community in Virginia?
Is it time for us to reconsider what we value as our First Amendment Rights, and begin to look at putting safeguards in place that say "unless they pose a threat to the safety and security of all"?
Where are we with this?
It's really with a heavy heart that I write these things, because it was not my intent to be discussing politics in my blog post today. I wanted to be talking to you about change.
I wanted to be talking to you about cleaning out old activities that no longer serve you, so that you can shine in the Light of Who You Really Are, and what you came here to do.
But that's going to have to wait a few days. I cannot sit and witness a defunct administration, and witness the rising of an angry group of young men (mostly) who are in fear for their survival (falsely), simply because of diversity in this country. What has happened to teaching right from wrong?
What has happened to personal responsibility?
What has happened to LOVE?
And what can WE do about it?
"If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious, and fearful. What can you predict or control? What is there in you that can be counted on? What would give you the ability to be aware of all the facets of any problem, and to resolve them in such a way that only good can come of it?"
—A Course in Miracles
This is my lesson in A Course in Miracles today. It is what I woke up to when asking "What can I do?" I have my work, in which I transform lives into those of strength and resilience, and strive to be a source of inspiration to others.
But I also know that, of these things, none of them I do alone.
I do them with a Higher Power, and with the cooperation and vigilance toward change that comes from within my clients as well.
All things outside of us are a reflection of our thoughts, feelings, and projections. If we are seeing something we do not like, we do need to go within and do some "cleaning up."
I know many of you who are on my list, and who are reading this now, denounce any and all things related to hatred, to the alt-right and white supremacists, and the hatred they stand for.
So what do we do now?
"Of yourself you can do none of these things. To believe that you can is to put your trust where trust is unwarranted, and to justify fear, anxiety, depression, anger and sorrow. Who can put his faith in weakness and feel safe?
Yet who can put his faith in strength and feel weak?
God is your safety in every circumstance. His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protection. There are no exceptions. And the Voice which speaks for Him thinks as He does.
Today we will try to reach past your own weakness to the Source of real strength."
—A Course in Miracles
And this is where miracles come from.
So what I am doing in these times is calling on a higher strength to direct me, and I am encouraging you to do the same.
There is a divine order in all things, and we have a role to play in it.
Some of the things that are going on in our lives right now are calling for us to close them out, meaning things that no longer serve you—those that you have outgrown, those that are holding you back—now need to go.
In the coming months we are being called to align more strongly with this Higher Power, and take our right roles in the "salvation of the world," as the Course refers to it, and your Soul has asked that you participate in that salvation, in your own unique way.
This is my calling to you today. Stay vigilant for strength, for the power of Love, and for cleaning and clearing out all that which no longer serves.
I'll be in touch in the coming days with an opportunity for supporting you in this if you should so need it.
In the meantime, have a blessed day, stay strong, stay forthright in your determination to carry the Light, and know that I love you.
