So much of what is happening in our country and what we are seeing on the news today—and even stretching back for many years now—can make any of us feel so depressed, angry, frustrated, and confused. Especially if you’re someone who aligns spiritually, you can be left with questions of “why?” and “are we making any progress at all?” I know you won’t believe me right now because we are seeing elements of hatred, prejudice, and rage rise in so many aspects of our society. But yes, we are making progress. Yes, we are. So long as voices are being heard, we are. So long as the cry for healing and restitution remains, we are. So long as the majority of us seek peace, seek a way to live together harmoniously, and seek a way to love one another, we are. You are not alone in thinking we are heading in the wrong direction. But in the same way that dark clouds can cover the sun, bring us thunder and lightning, drop rain, keep us in the dark for a while, and eventually roll over, so too will these times. The dark clouds pass by. And the sun shines through to reach us once again. The sun never really went away. It was always there, just behind the clouds. I pray for the children watching these events in the U.S. I pray that they will maintain the light they already have within themselves and be directed as young adults to know that prejudice, hatred, and violence against another is wrong. I pray for the next generation because I know that is how God brings change to our world: new babies and new generations are born. Let me offer you a little spiritual guidance: Hatred is often justified by saying that “those people are wrong.” Let’s just say instead, “I don’t understand perhaps, but keeping my heart pure is my only focus now.” This means that you don’t want to be contributing to the energy of hatred in the world but instead, you want to heal, transform, and stay attentive to the temptation all around you to grow insidiously hateful. You will be tempted to find blame, to hate or “dislike” in any form that feels justifiable to you, because that’s the way the ego works: it insists it is right; it insists you are correct and the other is wrong; it insists nothing will ever change and that the world is doomed for good. But this is not the Truth. The Truth is that the Light remains. The Light will come back to your heart as soon as you invite it in. And as is true in individuals, it is also true in our society and culture: if we invite the Light in, it will come. It is our role, as healers, therapists, consolers, and counselors of those who are afraid and spreading fear, to take stock of ourselves, and invite the Light into our own hearts. You can do it. And you will see where the Love is at that point. And there is plenty around us. I see that every day of my life. Love is forever. It will always win because it is the only thing that is real. Everything else is not real. And it is only the real that exists. Focus on the purity of your own heart. Refrain from judgment. Release the fear that you or any of humanity is not safe, and thereby you shall be inviting the Light into your little corner of the world, planting the seed for it to grow and spread, forever. My love and blessings,
