Christ here - the author of A Course in Miracles - is addressing Helen Shucman in this passage.

He is addressing her directly because she had a lot of fear in the beginning when she started writing down the words she was receiving that were the beginnings of the Course.

She thought she was crazy. She had a lot of doubts. But this woman was a Ph.D. professor at Columbia University in New York City and had a lot of credentials. She was not 'a flake' by any means.

If she had not done what was being asked of her, the Course could not have been used to impact the lives of millions and millions of people worldwide, including my own.

Fear can be present when you're getting ready to do something that may be big for you, something you perceive to be scary.

But so often that is exactly what we're being asked to do in order to grow and to fulfill both our purpose and our mission in the world.  

You don't have to have a massive, massive mission in the world. All you need to do is listen to what's being asked of you right now and do that.

Nothing more, and nothing less.

Realize you will be afraid, or rather I should say, fear can be present. But it doesn't, and shouldn't, be the thing that is controlling your actions. Your mind is in charge.

If the fear is in your mind, then you can change your mind. It sounds simple, butthe mind is the only thing that creates. If fear is wholly present there, I guarantee that doesn't feel good at all!

But what if - as the Course teaches - fear is not real, and the only thing that is real, is Love?

What if?

What does this do to assist us in alleviating our fears?

Everything.

Flood your mind with Love.
Flood your fear with Love.
Flood your own self-perception, with Love.

For if you don't overcome your fear, then nobody will know what it is that you have to say, and therefore Christ won't be able to use you to help heal the world.
