No Matter How Many Times You Screw Up

Wrangling guilt is one of the most difficult things for us to release.

Guilt is one of the strongest emotions we carry inside, albeit often hidden, often subconscious, but doing a tremendous amount of damage to our ability to grow.

It shows up like this:

• "Dammit, why did I do that?!"
• "I need to lose some weight"
• "I'm doing __________ too much, and I need to stop"
• "That other person is doing so much better than I am"
• "I keep screwing up"
• "I shouldn't have done that thing again"
• "Don't argue, just be quiet"
• "That other person is thinking bad of me

Maybe you're not having 'so many problems', I don't know. But we need to take full and complete stock of our lives every once in a while and see what's going on, then take full responsibility for it.
 
If you want to move forward in your life, that little, dark, hidden voice grips and controls your EVERY MOVE.

We need to start from the beginning here, to untangle where that voice comes from, so that we can see it is the exact antithesis of God as we would know it.

God is Love. That deep, concerned and caring, blanket of loving feeling that surrounds you.

Can you find it around you now?

It is there for you.

It loves you.

It wants only the highest and the best for you.

But what do we feel instead of this loving experience of God when we are full of guilt?

We get a steady, streaming flow of self-chastisement that continually puts us down, leaving us feeling always less than, lacking, and without any help available to us to make it all better.

This needs to stop, obviously. And the best way for that to happen is to pay attention to where and when that voice comes up.

"To give a problem to the Holy Spirit to solve FOR you means that you WANT it solved.
To keep it for yourself to solve WITHOUT His help is to decide it should remain UNsettled, UNresolved, and lasting in its power of injustice and attack."

The Justice of God

There is always a way out, as A Course in Miracles promises, and you are not expected to find that way out yourself.

Why would the creator of the problem be the same as the solution provider?  It's not.

We can call on something higher than ourselves to heal and release those errors within ourselves that we do not want anymore.

And the only real error here is not recognizing who we truly are.

The voice of guilt is what needs to be eradicated, and the Holy Spirit is there to help us do that.

That little voice inside that chastises either you or others (it's all the same) always seeks to attack. And it is never sane.

It will continue, over and over and over again, to find ways to attack, and incessantly continue its vengeance against you or another.

But there is a way out of this, and that is to:
​

1. Let it go. Recognize that voice for what it is when it comes up. Pay attention to these thoughts, these feelings of guilt or regret or vengeance, and simply start there. See them and recognize them.
2. Decide you don't want this anymore. Say to yourself - out loud if you want to be firm: "This is not the truth about me, and I seek to know what is true." There is no faster way to cut through that mind clutter than to profess to seek the truth.
3. Give it over to the Holy Spirit. If you want to know more about this, read Chapter 25 of A Course in Miracles, The Justice of God. It really goes into detail about how when we choose to hand it over to the Holy Spirit, we proclaim we don't want something anymore and are open to receiving the solution.
