It's kind of a full-circle moment for me. After spending twenty-two years in the film business (in my first career) and having graduated from NYU film school, I have totally avoided making films of myself, for my work. Just. Avoided. It.
Why? Probably because I knew too much about making films. Probably because I couldn't allow myself to put anything out there that wasn't well-executed. And probably because procrastination and avoiding are easier than doing what's uncomfortable. But you know what? I had to let go of perfectionism and face the music: more people are going to YouTube to find spiritual inspiration than anywhere else. And I wasn't there. So I got over the hump, made a commitment, and followed through. Now it's a piece of cake! And I can't wait to do more. So, you know, this begs the question: What's uncomfortable for you? Where do you need to stretch? I just stretched, and it turns out, I'm as happy as a clam doing what I used to do for years! This entails setting up the shot, making sure lighting, sound, and all the details are set, shooting, and then editing and polishing in post-production. I got on such a roll, I shot ten videos in one day! Now they are sprinkled all over my website, my Facebook page, and YouTube. There will be more to come, and I'm so happy I did this. The reason for this joy is expansion. You want to always think about expanding yourself, beyond your perceived limitations. It's not you who is limited, it's just your thoughts about yourself that are keeping you from taking big leaps. Eliminate those thoughts, and leap! The world is waiting for all of us to rise up into our highest and best expressions. This is the time, and I would love to support you in that.
