Everything is a Lesson...

"Everything is a lesson God would have me learn" is a lesson from A Course in Miracles that can sometimes be hard to accept.

I mean, we pray, we visualize, and we work on our manifesting skills. We set out our dreams, our goals, and our desires, and yet, what do we end up with sometimes? We end up with something that gets in our way: a "block" it seems. We come to a steadfast halt that seems to be going against our very wishes. 

So what do these blocks mean, and why are they there?

Is God working against us?

Are we doing it wrong?

Are we not asking for the right things?

I mean, what's going on?

In this lesson, the Course is asking us to look at things from an entirely different perspective. Often, when what we want doesn't come to us, but a series of setbacks come instead, we are looking straight in the eyes of whatever it is within our consciousness that is holding us back.  

We are always creating our realities, and yet God wants the best for us as well. So for instance, if you are looking to create a desired amount of money, and what comes instead are some unexpected bills, what is this showing you?

Everyone is going to have a different set of circumstances, so there is not a simply, straightforward answer that covers everyone about everything.  What will work is if I set out for you a couple of ground rules so that you can interpret for yourself what's going on in your world.

​First of all, I want to assure you that God only wants the best for you and is constantly trying to lead you to your highest good. The problem is, we're often not seeing the signs. We don't want to see the signs. We want to hang on to what we want, and ignore the rest!

But this isn't always going to work. Let's say you're becoming really unhappy about your work, for instance. You keep complaining about it, and then you're coming home to have your spiritual practice, and you're praying and meditating, and doing your clearings, and coming to understandings, and so on. It's very likely you are making a pretty good connection with Source/God, and since that Source of all things is seeing that you're unhappy at work, and can see much better and greater things for you, it's likely that Source will line up another situation that will suit you better, and create more happiness for you in your work environment and activities. 

The same would go for your relationships. There are many categories of relationships, but for now, let's just look at friendships.

If you're finding yourself dissatisfied with your friendships - for whatever reason - there is usually an element of disconnect happening, but we choose to hang on anyway.

Disconnects can happy say, when you are growing spiritually, and your friends are choosing to stay where they are. Or, the other way around. You don't need to understand the details, all we need to see is if there is a consistent, and persistent inability to connect anymore.

You can continue to love your friends, but if there isn't any joy in your connection, and there hasn't been for a long time, ask yourself, "Why am I here?"

Know that there are always more friends available to you. It is often the attitude that 'there's no one out there that I can connect with', that leaves you feeling you must continue with the same connections that you've had, that are no longer working for you.

What if you tried something new?

What if you decided to see things in a different way?

The next time one of your existing friendships disappoints you, ask yourself, 'Is this what I truly want?' 'Could there be something else in store for me?'

Posing questions always allows for answers to be given to you. If we remain closed, unforgiving, blaming, shaming, or generally not taking responsibility for what we see happening in our lives, we cannot affect any of the changes that we desire.

The next time you see road blocks appearing in your reality, that seem to be stopping you, or are the opposite of what you desire, know that this reflection is asking you to go deeper, heal some wounds or change your mental perspective, and be open to something new - a new direction, and an entirely new horizon can open up for you.

Don't you think God would only want to give you the best, ever? You ARE a Holy Child of God. So of course, that IS the case!
