Are You in a Soul Contract?

What is a Soul Contract? In this article, you'll learn what Soul Contracts are and how they apply to your life right now: your relationships, your health, your work, your challenges. You'll be given tools to help you learn what your own Soul Contract is, and to understand what you came here to experience and what your potential is. You'll also learn why you have the possibility of completing some of your Soul Contracts right now. Yes! You can do that, if you choose.

Are you in a Soul Contract? Well, let me tell you: yes, you are. But you're not alone; we all are. So for the next few minutes I'll be telling you more about what a Soul Contract is—what it could be for you—and then you can decide what you'd like to do with that information.

You see, we've all been born with a Soul Contract—that is, something we agreed to with our Soul regarding what we would be experiencing here on Earth, what our opportunity from it would be, and what outcome we wanted to achieve through this opportunity.

Have you ever heard anyone talk about a past trauma or great challenge they went through, and now that they're on the other side of it, they say, "Looking back now, that was such a blessing. It made me who I am today"? If you have, then you have an inkling of what a Soul Contract could look like.

Looking at your own life, do you see things that you've gone through in your past which, although they were really difficult for you at the time, you wouldn't trade for anything? 

That's because you learned a great deal from that lesson, and you're grateful for the person you've become because of what you've learned.

So here now is the quandary. You have many, many lessons lined up in your Soul Contract, not just a few here and there. Depending on how ambitious you were when  you signed up for this, you could have lots! And if you're ambitious in your life now, meaning you want to achieve and learn as much as you can, then you have a pretty good idea that you were ambitious on a Soul level as well.

So here's how it works. Before you were born, you existed as pure conscious energy, engulfed in your Soul. Your Soul is an extension of God; it is an expression of God. There are lots and lots of Souls out there, each one of them expressing a different aspect of God that wants to experience Itself.   

You wanted to experience yourself too! You wanted to grow and stretch and exercise all of your abilities to their fullest. You wanted to really know just how excellent you could be at creating expansive growth for your Soul. 

Your life as it is now is not the entirety of your Soul's expression. Your Soul has had countless expressions, and each one of them came with a pre-decided set-up. This set-up was agreed to by each new person before he or she was born, and then life began. 

You can have Soul Contracts together with another human being here; it may be a parent, a spouse, a child, a co-worker or colleague, or even a complete stranger. 

You could have a Soul Contract that directly involves your body, or a political situation in a country ravaged by war or famine. You could have a Soul Contract directly between you and God alone! There is an infinite number of ways and combinations of ways that you could have agreed to a contract that would help you, or someone else, grow.

There are also pre-determined points in time where, perhaps one person would meet someone, collaborate with them, have a trauma or crisis with them, or perhaps marry them and have children. There are many of these destination points, which are agreed upon before you actually experience them. In fact, they were agreed upon before you were even born! Do you follow me here?

You chose your parents. You chose your siblings, where you live, who your friends would be, and who your traumatizers would be as well, if that's what you chose.

The entire purpose of these contracts is whatever you decided—together with your Soul—was desired to be learned. For instance, if in previous lifetimes you had always been the perpetrator of war, or had experienced starvation in great famines, perhaps in this lifetime you are here to rectify a few things, and you want to be a promoter of peace, or get involved with feeding the hungry. Everything is about coming to a place of balance and wisdom.

In these days, many of us are on a path to completions--that is, we've had so many lifetimes in our pasts, and we want to resolve a lot of unresolved learnings that we still need to catch up on. Some of you are on the accelerated, quick-speed version of catching up with resolving a lot of past-lifetime situations, and much of it has to do with you on many levels. It could take the form of creating points of challenge for you in this lifetime that come in the form of relationships, money, your health, betrayals, false accusations, or completing Soul Contracts that you have had with others for many lifetimes combined! That's a lot of stuff!  

And guess what? A lot of people are doing this these days. We are approaching a point in history that wants to see a lot of completions, so a new world can be born.

So if your life seems fraught with quite a few challenges that rip you to the bone, it's likely you're one of these who signed up to be a help in finishing up completions and assisting in the birth of a new world. Yup. In fact, it's what you wanted to do. "Let's get this all done now!" you said to your Soul, and your Soul responded with, "OK, let's design this set-up." And you agreed, and off you went. How about that for participation in your own glory! Haha.

But some of this might not feel good to so many of you. Some of you might be getting a little tired of this Soul Contract thing, and you may want relief. Perhaps you've acquired the learning you had meant to, but you're still so stuck in the old pattern, you can't seem to get out of it! Sound familiar? Some of you may still be hanging onto old Soul Contracts from a previous lifetime, which you don't really even need any more. But something is fundamentally there inside of you—the way you operate—and you can't seem to shake it!

Here's the deal: in many cases, you can go back to your Soul, have a conversation, and find out if your previous and current contracts are really still in your best interests and still serving you.

Perhaps you've learned quite a bit and have developed a strong enough pathway for continued learning, and that original set-up isn't really needed anymore.  

Let me give you an example. You'd been denying your emotions for decades. Although you knew you were in a bad marriage, you stuffed your feelings, and didn't say anything. Instead, you avoided the truth; you avoided speaking up and acting in courage and faith, and standing up for yourself and what you needed for a healthy relationship with your partner. Instead, you silently just took it. You went along with how things were, and just kept biting the bullet in order not to disrupt the status quo, and just took it.

Slowly but surely, the relationship continues to deteriorate, and you are still not speaking your truth. Instead, you find yourself gorging yourself with food, or engaged in other addictions. Not only are you avoiding speaking truthfully to your partner, you avoid any feeling at all. You avoid the truth in all areas of your life, and prefer not to look at it. Why? It just feels too hard.

The next thing you know, you're being diagnosed with a serious illness. Your body is taking the brunt of these emotional denials, from having been stuffed too long. Maybe it's cancer, maybe it's an organ that's failing, or your joints—whatever it is, the body cannot take it anymore.

This is a Soul Contract. The effects are the body's reaction to having to hold more than it was designed to. It is the relationship with your partner that is the contract. Your challenge, your set-up, was to deal with it head-on, summoning all your courage to do so, then grow from it, learn the value of who you are, and stand up for yourself. Your challenge was to not tolerate the intolerable, and to make bold choices in favor of honoring your worth.

Let's say you did do all those things. Let's say you made other choices; you did speak up for yourself, you did find your boundaries and state them, and you honored your feelings and intuitions and spoke your truth. Let's say you worked through all of that. But your contract is still in place. Perhaps your partner changed, but what if he didn't? What if nothing has changed on his part whatsoever? Are you still obligated to this contract?

Obviously, I am using this entire scenario as an example. I have no idea who you are or what your situation is. I encourage you to look hard at your life and try to see where your Soul contracts might have been, or where they are right now.

Each of us have come into a body, born at a specific time in history, in a specific country, within a specific area of that country. We all have communities, families, siblings, and parents, and all manner of physical set-ups that create the stage for our potential to grow and learn.  

Everything that you learn, and every way that you grow, is a contribution to your Soul's magnificence and a contribution to God's expression, not to mention how it contributes to those around you as well. All that you learn and grow and do now, eliminates having to re-learn or re-do in other lifetimes in the future. Whatever you can resolve now frees you from having to spend the rest of your life "getting it," which is another way of experiencing difficulty and challenge, because that is the way you chose to learn.

Your Soul's expression and your Soul's contract with you will be uniquely yours. There is no way other than this. You can try to get out of it, but that's not possible, because it is the entire reason and purpose of your being here. If you catch your lessons early, or more quickly than you had planned, it's quite likely you can request to retire your contract, or have it "checked off" as completed, because you learned what you needed to learn.

Are you ready to release a Soul Contract?

I'm not entirely sure. I've released several, and I'm still releasing more. My life becomes freer and more expansive the more I learn and the more I can let go. So here's what I'm going to suggest:

1. Have a conversation with your Soul (as best you can) about this, and get a handle on what some of your Soul Contracts are, and how you've handled them so far.
2. Ask if there's anything more you can do to accelerate your learning, so this Soul Contract can be completed.
3. Keep a journal specifically about this, where you can have conversations with a Voice that can help you through these things. (I swear to you it works.)
4. Pray. (That works too!)
5. Know that it doesn't have to be permanent, you can work yourself through anything you want to. It's just a matter of timing. Do you want to take a long time doing this—at your own pace—or do you wish it could be over "yesterday"? Remember, faster pacing is not always more effective. And all lessons need to be thoroughly learned before they are considered completed.

​I'm going to wish you the best of luck, although that's not going to do you a whole lot of good. This is a journey between you and your Soul, and your Soul and God, who is always wanting the best for you. Sometimes learning to recognize your own value, your own magnificence, is exactly what God wants, and we have somehow chosen a very circuitous route to get to that destination.  

But how else could you learn how powerful you are, unless you were in a situation that called for your power to be pulled on and exercised and experienced?

My highest and best wish for anyone who is reading this is to be free--to live a life of freedom, free of encumbrances that no longer serve you. No, they are not your fate forever. If you've passed the learnings of your set-up, you can move on now. It does not have to last forever.
