Yet, another mass shooting. A gunman opened fire on concert goers in Las Vegas. People who were there to have fun, be with family and friends, and listen to some good country music they had been so looking forward to.
This gunman pre-planned the whole thing, and booked a hotel room high up so he could get a good vantage point on the crowd. Can you believe this? It's hard to even imagine what kind of mindset goes into perpetuating the act of trying to kill as many people as possible, who are there to enjoy life, enjoy music, and have fun with those they love to be with.
I know it's hard to be thinking about change for yourself, when we are looking at such horrific news on television, in social media, and just about everywhere around us.
Most of the people I know are pretty sad, frustrated and angry as well. It seems we all share the same opinion about this matter - that machine guns do not belong in the hands of anyone who can buy them at a store, never mind over the internet.
But never is there any change happening to our laws, or with our government officials. They all seem to side with the NRA - The National Rifle Association.
This association represents gun manufacturers. If there are no sales of guns, there are no profits for the gun manufacturers. Why would our law makers side with this association? Well, you figure it out. In our system of government, it is perfectly legal for large corporations and associations to make very large donations to any lawmaker they want to.
And the NRA has made very large donations to the majority of law makers on both sides of the aisle.
Yes, we need to get into a little political lesson so that, the next time you're wondering how this could be possible, look to the lawmakers that accept NRA money. Always follow the money.
Then vote them out. Sound simple? Not so much. Most Americans have no idea about the thing I just told you above. They actually believe that most Americans want guns on their streets.
The fact is, the data shows they don't. 86% of the American public wants stricter gun laws.
Sure we can share some articles and opinions on social media, or with our friends in conversations here and there... but aren't we getting so tired of this?
Aren't we getting frustrated that we don't seem to have very much control over what is governing the safety in our surroundings for the security of our lives?
It seems that so much power is lying within our government officials, and it's so confusing to hear what arguments they can come up with to justify the fact that anyone, at any time, can buy such outrageous weapons that can wipe out masses of people at any given time.
How did we get here?
I am personally so tired of this conversation.
I'm tired that it's the same conversation that we keep having every time another mass shooting occurs.
So many people I know are simply good, decent individuals, doing the best they can to be positive, loving, contributing citizens to our country.
And yet, there seems to be this force of fear that is controlling what could be beautiful, peaceful, harmonious lives in healthy communities.
The people at the 3 day country music festival in Las Vegas were simply there to enjoy themselves. They represented all of us. All walks of life: teachers, off-duty police officers, social workers...
When I look at events like this spiritually, I want to see what we are being shown. And this is what we allow. We have allowed this to be possible.
We have allowed the sale of these weapons designed to kill people, to be readily available to anyone, at any time. This is the truth.
I'm not going to apologize for 'being political' because I am strong enough to speak, to show, and to point out: This is simply wrong.
And I encourage you to do the same! It is exactly because not enough people have gotten angry, and stood up, and said "We need to fix this" that we have the situation we're in!
Think of all the people who are working on this, who have been affected by this, who are working so hard to fix all the problems that this has created... thousands! Communities, families, hospitals, workers... so many in so many other sectors of our society as well. There is such a huge cost to us all.
Where do we stand as a country?
I know it's hard to be thinking about change for yourself, but literally, this is one of the most important things to do: grow yourself.
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and I am astounded at how many very powerful, spiritual individuals are not clear on their gifts, and how to express them and what to do in the world.
It has caused me to rise up, and stand taller and stronger in being there to help those who are feeling called right now, to DO SOMETHING, to BE SOMETHING MORE, to ACT THROUGH THEIR OWN GIFTS.
God does not ask of you anything other than to fulfill your own function.
You have a part in saving the world.
It is your part, and only you can do it. And it is tied to your gifts. And your gifts, contributed to the world, can contribute to saving it.
And guess what else? Your happiness, your gifts and your function are all one.
I know this has been a long rant, and I appreciate you if you've gotten this far. But so many of us have been working on ourselves, and growing ourselves spiritually for so long and now you may be feeling a strong calling to rise up.
I know I do.
And I also know my calling is to shine my own light, inspire you, support you, and instigate a shift out of any kind of 'stuckness' that you may be feeling.
I am on fire when I'm helping women get past all their self-doubts about what is possible for them in their lives.
If you're feeling called, and you're tired of being stuck, ineffective, and feeling like you're the best kept secret in the world,
like you still aren't getting your message out,
or like your work is not earning you enough,
I am open to having a chat with you to see if we are a welcome fit in your life,
to get you clear,
and find the courage,
to transform into expressing the powerful woman that you know you are.
Let's all get up and do this together, now.
It's your life, and your life matters.
Your function matters.
Your gifts matter.
Your voice and courage, matter.
